Can you believe we're already fifteen issues in? As always, we've packed this edition with everything you need to stay ahead of the curve.
We're kicking things off with a look at the 2027 trends shaping our industry, the shifts worth watching and what they mean for you in the months ahead. Next, we're proud to share some of our latest client reviews, a reminder of why we do what we do and the relationships we value most.
For our foodies out there, we've put together a brand-new France restaurant guide, spotlighting the tables worth booking and the flavors worth chasing. We'll also recap our presence at this fall's European conventions, where we connect with partners, swapped ideas, and soaked up some fantastic industry energy.
And finally, our Destination of the Month takes us to Madrid, a city we're excited to feature as a rising star for golf lovers looking for their next getaway.

| | A peak into 2027: the trends are (already) here ⛳️ |

| With the recent Open Championship showcasing the Golf Coast of England, and Rory’s first appearance in Cornwall, we are witnessing an incredible demand for England as a golf destination, also part of a multi-destination golf vacation stop, often combined with Scotland and/or Ireland.
The Home of Golf has a sharp edge and continues its growth even with prices exceeding historic highs. The 155th Open Championship (July 15-18, 2027) taking place in St Andrews will again reinforce its strategic position as the number 1 golf destination in Europe.
Ireland is also highly attractive to links golf amateurs, especially with the Ryder Cup being held at Adare Manor from September 17-19, 2027. Golf travel is a major pillar for the Irish economy and the country is investing in new, unconventional cluster areas, developing other links courses such as Brittas Bay and Curracloe Links, both opening in Spring 2027.
Another strong multi-destination golf segment is the Iberic Peninsula combining Portugal with Spain, with 3 major hot spots: the south of Lisbon, the Algarve and Costa del Sol.
Looking at the bigger picture, we are witnessing the attractiveness through Open Championship venues and major golf events mixed with cultural interests. As part of this trend, we are delighted to share that we have gained access to tickets and packages to all major tournaments in Europe either directly, or through our partners on the ground.
In addition to these destinations, we are seeing an increased interest for the Netherlands as a golf destination, with the highly anticipated 2026 Solheim Cup hosted at Bernardus Golf Club from September 7-13, 2026. We are also receiving requests for lesser known golf destinations such as Germany, Switzerland and Central Europe as part of a golf and cultural-leisure trip.
There is much to look forward to in 2027 and if you are planning your next golf trip to Europe, we are happy to share our destination knowledge with our clients and encourage you to take that trip, whether you travel independantly, with us or through another travel company.

Ana and her friends went on an epic golf tour of Spain playing the very best courses in the country and enjoying guided tours of Sevilla, Granada, Barcelona and Costa Brava. We had a fantastic time. The real highlight was that everything was seamless for the entire week. The courses were all terrific. At Noordwijkse the club president and a board member came by at lunch and were quite friendly. Kennemer was Colleen’s favorite (she broke 100) and Utrecht was my favorite. At each place we lingered and enjoyed ourselves. Sam, our driver, was always on time which we appreciate. The Van Gogh guide Claire was terrific. She was very knowledgeable and passionate about Van Gogh. We arranged a guide for the National museum through the hotel which was also very good. Hotel 27 and the arrival VIP service at amsterdam airport were both big splurges for us and usually splurges have mixed results but these splurges were both well worth it. Hotel 27 team made us feel very special and gave us excellent recommendations for dinner and tour guide. First time we ever had a steam room in our room!! There was no real negative, the balance between golf and touring worked well. We even lucked out with the weather. So we are very grateful.

After a busy summer here in our office in Bluffton, SC, we are soon heading to Europe on an epic tour, starting with Bordeaux, France at the end of August before a quick trip to St Andrews for strategic partner meetings in September. We will then travel to Ireland to attend the much anticipated IAGTO Irish Convention at Dromoland Castle along with pre and post-fam trips from October 2-9, followed by the IGTM Convention in Cannes, France from October 19-22, 2026.
This busy agenda enables us to attend major industry events, while we monitor our clients’ trips directly from our home in France and continue planning our 2027 trips. |

Madrid in October: Championship golf, the Spanish Open and the sweet art of Spanish living |

Some cities make you choose between a great golf trip and a great city break. Madrid refuses to. Spain’s grand capital gathers 20 golf courses within 30 kilometers of the city center, most of them less than 30 minutes from your hotel door, so you can play a championship course in the morning and be sipping a glass of Rioja in front of a Velázquez by late afternoon. And this October, there is one more reason to go: the Spanish Open is coming home to Madrid. |

The Open de España returns to Madrid, October 8–11, 2026
From October 8 to 11, the Open de España presented by Madrid returns to Club de Campo Villa de Madrid. First played in 1912, it is one of the oldest national opens in continental Europe and a proud stop on the DP World Tour, more than a century of champions, with Seve Ballesteros’ name written all over its history.
The stage is special too. The tournament is played on the club’s Black Course (Recorrido Negro), a masterpiece by the great Spanish architect Javier Arana and widely considered one of the best courses in Spain, stately parkland golf just minutes from the city center. This is where Jon Rahm has lifted the trophy three times (2018, 2019 and 2022), roared on by home crowds, and where England’s Marco Penge won a dramatic playoff in 2025. Penge is expected back to defend his title, and the Spanish stars always circle this week on their calendars.
Few Tour events are this easy to enjoy: the course sits about 15 minutes from downtown Madrid, tickets are affordable by major-championship standards, and the atmosphere is wonderfully Spanish, passionate, warm and relaxed. Here is the trip idea: walk the fairways as a spectator in the morning, watching Europe’s best up close — then play your own golf the next day on one of Madrid’s top courses. Very few destinations let you combine a Tour event and your own tee times this easily. |

Where you will play
Madrid’s golf is a well-kept secret among American golfers, and that is exactly its charm: excellent conditioning, serious designs and none of the crowds of the coastal resorts. Among our favorites, all within easy reach of the city:
• Real Club La Moraleja: four top courses in one prestigious club, including two Jack Nicklaus designs, • Golf Santander, a modern Rees Jones championship course, immaculate and rarely busy, • Real Club de Golf La Herrería: golf beneath the monumental Royal Monastery of El Escorial; one of the most photogenic backdrops in European golf, • Centro Nacional de Golf, home of the Spanish Golf Federation, a true test in the north of the city. • El Encín Golf and Golf Olivar de la Hinojosa: friendly, open layouts, perfect for the mixed-level groups and a relaxed round. |

For the days off the course
Madrid in October is at its very best: sunny days around 68–70°F, golden light, café terraces still buzzing. Between rounds, the city delivers:
• Art for the ages, the “Golden Triangle” of the Prado, Reina Sofía and Thyssen museums, all within a pleasant stroll of each other.
• Flamenco at its finest, an evening at Corral de la Morería, the legendary tablao with a Michelin-starred restaurant attached. Goosebumps guaranteed.
• Fiesta Nacional, October 12, Spain’s national day, with a grand parade through the heart of the city and a festive atmosphere all weekend.
• Football royalty, experience a Real Madrid match live at the newly rebuilt Santiago Bernabéu, one of the world’s great sporting cathedrals (Atlético’s Metropolitano is another option). No match that day? The Bernabéu tour and its museum, trophies, legends and a walk through the stadium, are well worth the visit.
• A table worth traveling for, from Botín, the oldest restaurant in the world, to a new generation of Michelin stars, and the classic tapas crawl through La Latina. October is game and wild-mushroom season, Spanish autumn cooking at its finest.
• Shopping with a special touch: Las Rozas Village, the open-air luxury shopping village just outside the city, and Galería Canalejas, Madrid’s most exclusive shopping gallery in the heart of town, next to the Four Seasons. Both are partners of the Madrid Golf Courses Association, and a special welcome, or a little surprise, may be waiting for our golf guests.
• Easy day trips: Toledo, Segovia and El Escorial are all under an hour away, and pair beautifully with a morning round. |

A taste of the itinerary
Eight days, golf every other day, the Madrid rhythm we recommend:
Day 1: Arrive, settle in, evening tapas walk through the old town. Day 2: Golf at La Moraleja · flamenco night at Corral de la Morería. Day 3: Spectator day at the Open de España · dinner at Botín. Day 4: Golf at Golf Santander · evening at the Prado. Day 5: Day trip to El Escorial with golf at La Herrería under the monastery walls. Day 6: Morning at Galería Canalejas or Las Rozas Village · Bernabéu museum and tour or a Real Madrid match if the calendar smiles · Michelin-starred dinner. Day 7: Farewell round at Centro Nacional or El Encín · one last long Spanish lunch. Day 8: Fly home or extend to Toledo or Segovia.
One more thing: Madrid plays golf all winter
Thanks to its dry, sunny climate, Madrid stays very playable in October, November and December, crisp mornings, mild afternoons and courses in great shape. If you are dreaming of golf when the clubs are already in the garage at home, keep Madrid on your winter list.
