Discover the best golf & sightseeing destinations in the Czech Republic

Welcome to Europe’s most exciting underrated golf destination where fairytale castles, culture and championship courses collide in perfect harmony. With a golfing heritage dating back to 1904 and over 100 courses woven into Bohemia’s dramatic landscape of forested ridges, limestone ravines, and castle studded valleys, the Czech Republic offers a uniquely compelling and beautifully understated golf experience at exceptional value. Courses such as PGA National Oaks Prague, designed by Kyle Phillips, rank among the finest modern layouts in Continental Europe. Karlstejn Golf Resort delivers one of the most extraordinary settings imaginable, with three interconnected nines played beneath a 14th-century castle perched above wooded gorges. Albatross Golf Resort provides championship-level challenge near Prague, while Golf Resort Konopiště and the Royal Golf Club Mariánské Lázně offer parkland elegance steeped in aristocratic history.

Prague is one of our favorite capital cities of Europe and while we personally visited it during the New Years festivities, we’ve never truly forgotten the magical beauty of the city and the architecture splendour it offered at every single turn. The “City of Hundred Spires” is one of the most extraordinarily preserved cities of all of Europe and its entire historic center, not just specific monuments, is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its unified cultural landscape and exceptional ensemble of architecture spanning Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance, and Art Nouveau styles. Aside from the capital city, driving through the countryside is an epic roadtrip combining rolling hills, medieval spa towns, hilltop castles, and vineyards, but that’s not only what makes it so memorable. What truly sets Bohemia apart beyond its castles, its spires, and its fairways, is the richness of its gastronomic heritage. Picture this: slow-roasted meats falling off the bone, velvety sauces simmered for hours, and rustic traditional dishes that have been passed down through generations and perfected over centuries. Sip a cold pint of Pilsner alongside, and you are living the dream. Cheers to that!

Prague & Central Bohemia

If your search has led you here, chances are you’re considering a golf trip to Prague for your next European escape, and you’re right to do so. The enchanting capital offers everything one could wish for: a picturesque UNESCO-listed city center framed by breathtaking medieval landmarks on both sides of the Vltava River, a vibrant and diverse cultural scene, and charming cobbled streets that feel as though they’ve been lifted straight from a film, all coming together to create an atmosphere that is both timeless and irresistibly captivating. Beyond the city, the Czech countryside opens up into a landscape of forests, castles, and vineyards, offering the perfect balance to your time on the fairways.

Central Bohemia offers a surprisingly strong collection of courses, each with its own character. The star of the show here is the PGA National Oaks Prague, a modern championship course designed by Kyle Phillips in 2020 and managed by Troon Privé. Set on an undulating terrain with wide fairways winding through the natural-kept rough and waste areas, Oaks Prague features an inland links-style layout with characterful holes framed by forest, meadows, and natural landforms. The Albatross Golf Resort has hosted European Tour events and stands out for its immaculate conditioning and bold, strategic layout while Karlštejn Golf Resort delivers a more dramatic and scenic experience, with sweeping elevation changes and views of the famous castle nearby. Together, these courses create a well-rounded golfing experience that pairs effortlessly with Prague’s cultural richness.

Eastern and Southern Bohemia

Jump into the unknown and explore Czechia’s most remote golf courses
on an adventure through the Eastern parts of the country. This lesser traveled region offers a more relaxed and authentic slice of the country, where historic towns, rolling countryside, and a slower pace of life create a setting that feels both welcoming and unspoiled. Highlights of this region include the UNESCO classified city of Kutná Hora, the famed “Church of Bones” and silver mines, the city of Parbudice, a refined old town with colorful façades, Hradec Králové known as the “Salon of the Republic”, and the Krkonoše Mountains, ideal for hiking.

The exclusive Casa Serena Golf Club stands out as a refined, championship-caliber experience designed by Robin Hiseman from European Golf Design in 2008. Nearby, Panorama Golf Resort delivers a diverse test across its three distinct nines, combining elevation, strategy, and sweeping countryside views to create a dynamic round every time you play. For those seeking a blend of sport and relaxation, Golf & Spa Resort Kunětická Hora offers a more tranquil experience, pairing enjoyable golf with wellness facilities in a peaceful rural setting.

Western Czechia

Western Bohemia is a region that rewards the curious traveler and can be experienced as a standalone golf destination or part of a multi-day trip through the Czech Republic or its neighboring country, Germany, for instance. World-famous for its therapeutic spa towns, this under-the-radar destination is mistakenly overlook by international visitors. Stroll through the colonnades of Karlovy Vary or Mariánské Lázně, adventure the castle towns of Luket, Bečov nad Teplou, or Cheb and visit Pilsen where the first ever Pilsner beer was drafted.

For golfers, there are plenty of quality courses here starting with Karlovy Vary Golf Club, a mature, tree-lined parkland layout that winds gracefully through the wooded hills surrounding the famous spa town. Established over a century ago, it carries an old-world charm that few courses in Central Europe can match, with tight, demanding fairways rewarding precision over power. Just an hour south, Royal Golf Club Mariánské Lázně has been welcoming golfers since 1905, making it one of the oldest courses in the country. Laid out across an open, undulating terrain with long views across the Bohemian highlands, it is a course steeped in history, King Edward VII was among its early admirers, and one that demands both strategy and imagination from the first tee to the last green. Rounding out the trio, Greensgate Golf and Leisure Resort brings a more contemporary sensibility to the region. Designed with modern playability in mind, its well maintained layout and excellent facilities make it an ideal choice for those looking to combine competitive golf with comfort, whether visiting as a group, a couple, or a solo traveler chasing a few peaceful rounds.
